Attic Insulation Rebates in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario

3 min read

Thinking about upgrading your attic insulation? The Home Renovation Savings Program offers eligible homeowners rebates of up to $1,250 for qualifying attic-insulation upgrades—with no home energy assessment required through the standalone Attic Stream.

Spray-Tech Insulation is an approved contractor for the Enbridge Home Renovation Savings Program – Attic Stream. We serve homeowners throughout our local communities, Ottawa and surrounding areas.

If you are considering an attic top-up, our team can review your project, explain the applicable requirements and discuss potential rebate eligibility.

How Much Could You Receive?

The available rebate depends on your attic’s insulation level before the upgrade, the insulation level achieved afterward and the eligible cost of the project.

For a standard attic, the rebate categories are:

Existing insulation level

Minimum level after the upgrade

Maximum rebate

R-12 or less

R-50

$1,250

Greater than R-12, up to and including R-25

R-50

$1,000

Greater than R-25, up to and including R-35

R-50

$800

The rebate is capped at 50% of the eligible project cost after tax, up to the maximum for your category. These amounts are caps—not automatic payments.

Why Do the Starting and Finished Insulation Levels Matter?

Your existing insulation determines which rebate category applies. For all three standard-attic categories, the completed upgrade must reach at least R-50.

This means an attic starting at R-10 and one starting at R-30 have the same minimum finished level, but different maximum rebates.

You do not need to know your attic’s exact insulation level before contacting us. Our team can review the existing conditions and explain the proposed work before installation.

What About Flat Roofs and Cathedral Ceilings?

The program also offers rebates for eligible flat-roof and cathedral-ceiling insulation upgrades, with different requirements:

Existing insulation level

Minimum level after the upgrade

Maximum rebate

R-12 or less

R-20

$650

R-25 or less

R-28

$750

These rebates are also capped at 50% of the eligible project cost after tax, up to the applicable maximum. If your home has a combination of roof types, the project needs to be assessed against the requirements for the relevant areas.

Does the Whole Attic Need to Be Upgraded?

The program requires 100% of the total roof-assembly area, including inaccessible areas to be upgraded. If your home has separate attic sections, areas with limited access or a combination of roof types, let us know when discussing your project. We will review the applicable requirements before confirming the scope of work.

Is a Home Energy Assessment Required?

No home energy assessment is required through the standalone Attic Stream.

However, you must pre-register through the program website, complete an in-home visit with a participating insulation contractor and return signed terms before eligible work begins. Contact us before starting work so we can explain the process and review your project.

3. Review Your Quote

You will receive a quote outlining the proposed work. We will also explain the potential rebate and the conditions that apply.
