General Terms

Spray-Tech Insulation guarantees that all installed insulation in accessible, visible spaces of new or retrofit construction will meet the specified R-values as listed in project proposals. Warranty coverage does not extend to finished surfaces or areas not directly insulated.

Spray-Tech Insulation is not responsible for structural or decorative features (such as beams, potlights, blocked soffits, or thermal bridges) that restrict optimal product installation or prevent meeting Ontario Building Code insulation, vapor barrier, or air barrier standards.

As per the Ontario Building Code, any spray foam that is installed must be covered by a fire protective barrier and cannot be left exposed. This is not included in our pricing unless explicitly stated.

Before Installation
Spray-Tech Insulation requires clear access to the jobsite and the area must be ready for installation on the scheduled day of work. This includes:

  • Removal of all moveable objects (furniture, boxes, shelving, etc.) in the areas to be insulated, leaving at least 6’ of clearance from walls and 3’ of clearance from the floor in crawl spaces for work to be performed. Any items not removed will be removed by our team and the client will incur truck standby charge of $150/hour that will be added to their final invoice. Spray-Tech Insulation is not liable for any damage incurred when moving items.

  • (Spray Foam Specific) Ensuring that the space to be spray foamed has been heated for at least 24 hours, to a minimum of 15°C. This ensures that the substrate is within the manufacturer’s requirements for installation. Please refrain from using propane heaters, as this increases moisture in the area and can result in an inability to install the spray foam.

  • Ensuring the area is free of frost, water, and condensation.

  • Ensuring Spray-Tech Insulation can park a vehicle that can range in size from a pick-up truck to a 26’ box truck. If parking permits are required, or if the parking spots need to be blocked off, it is the customer’s responsibility to do so. An inability to park our work vehicles means we cannot complete the work, and the charges outlined below may be applied.

Spray-Tech Insulation requires 72 hours’ notice of cancellation or schedule changes, or a $400 cancellation charge will be incurred.

Weather and Scheduling
Spray-Tech Insulation is not liable for delays or rescheduling caused by inclement weather or unforeseen events on the part of Spray-Tech Insulation. An installation being delayed ue to inclement weather will be determined and Spray-Tech's sole discretion. Scheduling changes will be communicated transparently if such conditions arise.

During Installation
Due to manufacturer's recommendations, Spray-Tech Insulation requires that all occupants and pets vacate the premises during spray foam application, and for 24 hours thereafter, due to odors and curing requirements. Spray foam omits an odor only during curing. It is recommended that the customer provides 0.3 air exchanges per hour in the installation area for a period of 24 hours after installation.

If Spray-Tech Insulation arrives on site to perform the work and are unable to commence the work due to a situation out of our control, standby or trip charges will be applied to your invoice. Site readiness is dependent on all the “Before Installation” conditions in Spray-Tech Insulation’s Terms & Conditions being met.

If Spray-Tech is delayed in their start, a man hour charge of $150/hour will be charged. If Spray-Tech arrives on site and we are unable to perform work at all, a trip charge of $1200 will be applied to your invoice.

As per CAN/ULC-S705.2, any spray foam applied is subject to a tolerance of +/-¼" regardless of the total quoted thickness or R-value of the customers estimate.

After Installation

For insulation removals or attic top ups, a small amount of dust fall out is inevitable. Spray-Tech Insulation cleans the jobsite to the best of their ability, but clients must expect to do some minor dusting in the following days. Spray-Tech also recommends cleaning any furnace filters. If possible, it is advisable to turn off forced air systems when insulation is being installed or removed.

Materials used are covered by manufacturer warranties. Details are available upon request and Spray-Tech will assist with any valid claim.
